Depending on the design of a workforce development program, domestic procurement requirements may be applicable if expansions to training centers or the purchasing of equipment are included in a state’s program utilizing federal funding. The Build America Buy America Act of 2022 (contained as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act) significantly expands the domestic procurement requirements of almost all federal funding used for infrastructure investments.

While the Department of Energy and other agencies have not finalized rules for implementing these new requirements, NASEO and E4TheFuture hosted a webinar on the topic to preview what states can expect for future domestic procurement requirements.
